Winter Laziness?

Floyd waits to get a cleaning.
I'm glad I have a 'beater' bike as I have been so lazy lately and NOT cleaning Floyd up.  He has become very dirty!  I left him downstairs today in the hopes that I'd clean him up. It's not to be!  Poor bike...

Making Tracks at the Ancient Forest

On Sunday, Febuary 26, I led nine people on a snowshoe around the Ancient Forest.  Well, I let Nowell lead the way, which meant a lot of breaking trail.

Adventures at Pidherny

Looking for flagging
This past Sunday, I led a snowshoe trip to the nearby Pidherny Trail Recreation Area.  In the Summer, the trails are used a lot by mountain bicyclists.  In fact, the trail system was created and is maintained by the Prince George Cycling Club.  According the PG Cycling Website 'The Pidherny area and the Nechako Ridge Recreation area has been approved as an official recreation site for all non-motorized users (Mtn biking, hiking, walking, skiing, snowshoeing, etc.).'

Plants and Birds...

Wembly and Gobo love to get into trouble!  They like to chew anything made of wood, and they like to chew my plants.  I've placed all of my poisonous ones in my spare room so there isn't a chance of them hurting themselves.

Tim gets support while feeling the temperature of the water
This past Sunday, I led a snowshoe trip to Livingston Springs, which is located in the Crooked River Provincial Park.

Taking chances

Time to change the rear tire
I'm taking chances with the weather. It's been spring like today.  I took Big Red (aka Pura Vida) off of her stand, and replaced the training tire with my good touring tire.

Spring-like Weather continues....

Roads have been bare for 2 weeks
*I just took the photo while on the sidewalk. I've been riding the roads as there is lots of room for me and the vehicles and the roads are in good condition.

The awesome Spring-like conditions have continued.  It has been mild and we've seen no snow for weeks. I think that we are in a dry spell. I've been riding every day!  Here's hoping that we'll have an awesome dry hot Summer.  Mother Nature can still surprise us, but I don't think that we'll get a big dump like we did last February.

Willow River to Wildlife Lookout Snowshoe Trip Part II

A Snowshoe Hare

While snowshoeing we saw lots  of animal tracks including those of the Snowshoe hare.  I haven't seen one of those since I was a child.  There must be a lot of them now as there were tracks all over the place.  I was lucky on this trip to see one!  I like how the trip leader, Nowell,  wrote up about our little rabbit meet-up:

"Consequently, he sat not 10 feet away from us for several minutes allowing us to admire him,  and sensed that we were some kind of strange two-legged creatures placed there to admire him, take pictures, and to listen to Carolyn whispering sweet nothing into his beautiful long ears."

Willow River to Wildlife Lookout Snowshoe Trip Part I

Enjoying some Sun
It was a good day to snowshoe! The Sun was out, and it wasn't too warm or too cold.  We carpooled out to Willow River and found a place to park along side the road.  We also had to leave a vehicle at the Wildlife Lookout so we could shuttle the drivers back to their cars to pick the rest of us up!.

I don't miss the old days

I love this Winter! Except for the really cold spell one week, there hasn't been much of Winter.  Which of course, makes for wonderful bicycle riding.  I must say that I don't miss the Winters that we used to have.
