Go West : Biking and Geocaching

Another weekend has come and it's time to geocache again, with Melanie and Peter.  I've wanted to do it on previous weekends, but have been too busy.

It was originally supposed to be a nice sunny day, but instead it was clouded over.  We were also originally going to ride out on Highway 16 East to Tabor Lake, but Peter noticed that a lot of the geocaches that we were going to look for, were not active or had been moved.  So he scrapped that idea, and decided that we'd be geocaching on Highway 16 West.  I was out getting food for the day and I didn't notice the change of plans.  My cellphone was off at the time, so that didn't help.

April Critical Mass- the beginnings of Spring

The last Friday of the Month had arrived and it was time for another Critical Mass.  I took over Adrian's job of advertising it on Facebook.  I was so happy to see a few riders show up!  It was still cool outside and rain was threatening us.  A total of 8 attended, so it was not too bad a turnout.  I am sure that we will get more when it warms up.  One person just missed the ride, so I was kind of sad, but I'll make sure she knows about the next one when it comes up.

Fun shirt for bike riding

Shirt from Zazzle.ca
I've created this awesome shirt for riding around on my bike.  It's made of cotton, which I think will be great when it's hot outside.  I want to take this along with me when I bike tour this Summer.  I really wanted to create one as I love the logo so much! Wish they sold actual wicking bicycle shirts that would be good for touring in general riding conditions, although I think when I'm climbing up a hill in 100 plus degrees, cotton will feel good!  I use cotton when hiking in really hot weather, it keeps me cooler.

Here's the back...

What do you think?  I picked a Yellow shirt for better visibility on the bicycle.

Riding to the races

Fraser River hardly has any snow flowing down on it anymore
On Saturday, when a scheduled item cancelled at last moment, I made the spontaneous decision to go for a good bike ride.  The local bike club was hosting it's first bike race of the season on the outskirts of town. I kind of figured that I probably missed the action of them taking off and that they would be riding somewhere not where I would be.   I had already missed the group shot at 11am  (for the 2012 Bike to Work Week Poster)

Quest for flowers

Today on Sunday it is a lot nicer then yesterday. It may only be 4 degrees warmer, but the Sun makes it seem so much warmer.  I just had to go out for a ride with Baxter even though I must work on posting the Rambler's 2012 Hiking Schedule.

Prince George Cycling Club Bottle Drive

This year the Prince George Cycling club held it's second annual bottle drive.  The monies raised from it help support programs in the club like Sprockids, and other neat stuff.  I've only recently become involved with the club as I see how much they've done for the cycling community.

Forests for the World by Moonlight

Last night I went on the last Full Moon Snowshoe trip with the Ramblers. We didn't need our snowshoes though as the path was well packed down.

We had a nice sized group come as members of Katimavik joined us.  It was a nice warm night, the stars were out and moon was just rising.  It was a perfect night to come out.

Spring's Deceptions

The Official day of Spring doesn't actually apply to Canada.   Winter is back.  Well, it's not cold and the snow is not staying on the road.  But it is still snow!
