Let the training begin!

Mary-Jo's Funky Bell, which I named Foxxy

Ok, it's time to get a bit serious about training for my upcoming adventures.  My hiking friends Mary-Jo and Paul are also going on Tour De Jasper this Summer and they invited me to join them on a training ride this past Saturday.

Prince George Bike to Work Week

Bike Work Week started today and runs until June 3.  It is going on all over the province of British Columbia.  This is our 4th Annual event.

I should post something about our local Bike to Work Week, but don't have anything yet... I will definitely have photos of the one Celebration Station that I make it to this week.

I think that it's a good way to promote cycling to work, and last year over 600 local residents participated.  Here is hoping that there is a lot more this year, especially since the weather is so good!

For now, I forward you on to another local Cyclist who has a blog, he has a very good write up on why you should participate!

Riding along the Nechako- May Prince George Critical Mass

Reminds me of Google car, but on a bike.

The last weekend of May, and the weather was awesome!  It was also going to be a busy weekend for me.  It started with the local Critical Mass ride on Friday night.  Although Bike to Work Week started on May 28, it was still part of the scheduled events on the local Bike to Work week website.

Business Cards for travels

It's still a few months until I am bike touring, but the preparations have been ongoing.

Today I ordered some free Business cards from Vistaprint.  I had to pay $9 to ship them, but for 250 cards, that's a bargain. There's a small advert on the back..but I don't mind.

I was going to make a custom one with my Squirrelgal Bicycle logo, but I cheaped out as I do not want to spend anymore then I have to before the trip.  But, I still have my shirt with the logo!  And this card does feature a path with looks like it could be ridden on a bicycle.  I think that it'll work.

I received my bike shirt last week from Zazzle, and I love it!  Last year when I bike toured, I handed out pieces of paper that I tore..with handwritten addresses of my website.  This year I'll have the shirt and hand out business cards.

Mother's Day at Chinlac

Nineteen people joined the Ramblers for a hike on Mother's Day.  It was one first real warm days that we have had so far this year.   It was warm enough for me to wear a t-shirt and shorts for a lot of the day.  And the bonus was that there were no bugs (yet)

A warm Saturday bicycle ride

This past Saturday, I went riding with my hiking friend, Shae-Anne.  It was so nice warm again, who would want to stay inside?  It was warm enough to wear my shorts!  We decided to bike along the whole Heritage Trail.  On recent rides on it, I've only done part of the trail.

Bike Swap 2012: Vintage and Retro

It's fun volunteering!
While helping out at the local bike swap this past Saturday, I checked out some cool bikes for sale. I'm amazed that I didn't come out with anything as the deals were crazy.  There were even a few freebies in there, would you believe?  A percentage of the sales went to support the local bike club, but for some of the bikes, the whole sale price went to the club as a donation.

Checking out the local Bike Swap

On Sunday, May 12, the Prince George Cycling Club held it's 4th Annual Bicycle Swap.  This year, I volunteered for it.  It was a perfect day for it as the weather was finally really nice for bicycle riding.  I didn't bring any cash as I wasn't intending to buy anything, but I did walk out with something.  More about that later.

Hiking Piderny Trails

On Sunday, May 6, I joined my first hike of the season with the Caledonia Ramblers.  We were going to be hiking locally at Piderny.  You may remember that I lead a snowshoe there in February.

Busting trails Geocaching

When Peter asked if I wanted to do some Geocaching today, how could I resist?  Especially when we would be geocaching with bicycles again.  They are so meant for each other.
