Last weekend, I did one last local bike camping trip in preparation for the big trip on the Pacific Coast. As I thought that I would house-sitting, I booked a campsite near the city.  It turns out that I didn't have to house-sit, but as I couldn't cancel the reservation, I decided to work around it.

Critical Mass in July

On Friday, July 27, it was Critical Mass night in Prince George.  It's really like the Critical Few as we don't get lots of people attending.  A lot of UNBC students participate and they are gone away for the Summer.  We did have a student from Spain join us though, who is working at UNBC for the Summer.  But I will say that some people always show up, so I am never the only one at the meeting place.  Word apparently gets around.  If you are from Prince George, I encourage you to join us on the last Friday of each Month (except in Winter from November to March) at 5:30pm in front of the Civic Centre.  Let's show Prince George how important cycling infrastructure is!  And how important Cyclists are.

On Sunday morning, the sun was shining again.  We dismantled our tents and put the rest of the stuff into the trailer for the trip home.  We were going to have a brunch at the Sawridge at 9:30am. Most of us walked in.  I was with the last group.  I went ahead of them in town.  I saw the truck and trailer go past me at one point. I was rushing to make it there on time.  When I got there, the people that I were walking with were there already! The truck had picked them up. Darn!

I was so upset about this, that I decided to write to the Mayor.  I basically told her that it was a bad idea as it wouldn't encourage people to go out and ride their bikes.  I was quite surprised to receive a personal response from the Mayor herself.  Here's is what she wrote in her email.  Thoughts on it would be appreciated.

The fourth and final day of Tour De Jasper, started off on a damp morning.  But nothing like we had last year.  We did encounter some rain along the rain, but really only light rain.  Soon enough though, it dried off and except for being chased by rain, we never encountered any more.
