This weekend I'm hiking on the Fort George Canyon trail. It ends at the Fraser River, where many a riverboat was towed through. You can still see the still see the steel peg that the boats were tied to and pulled up.
According to BC Parks, "Natural Features: Historic Canyon on the Fraser River, the park protects the historic winch site used by paddle-wheeled boats in the early 1900’s and related portage, a native fishing site and popular hiking trail."
